Christmas in the Czech Republic and not a single mention of carp? Or noting the popularity of nativity scenes in a largely atheist country? I will say the animated nativity scene is something I've never heard of before, but I was most intrigued by the old man in your opening scene.
So much of this rang true to me as an American living in the Czech Republic. My first year here I was sure I would go back, my second year I wagered 60/40 that I'd leave soon. Four years and counting and I'm not sure I ever will. It's a tough conversation to have with friends and family back home without feeling, as she points out in the article, incredibly privileged. Part of the problem is that the expectation of a good life has become a luxury.
I would add "Midnight in Paris" and pretty much any Bond movie to your list, but it's a definitely a decent start!
