Makes some good points. I guess it's better to travel than to not travel at all. People I know who travel are much more clued-up on human rights, and indeed other, issues around the world and therefore increasing the chance for change

I think the problem is, once you make that first step onto the plane on that first venture abroad, home will never be where you thought it was again... That's the price we pay for seeing the world and having amazing adventures!
