I found this article by Anil Polat absolutely fascinating. Don't know that I'd want to go to Yemen as a solo female traveler right now, but found it interesting to learn that it is possible, and probably pretty safe. Would you go?
Agreed Matthew - the lake is the most amazing color...
I want one of these! Amtrack contacted me nearly two years ago and I didn't accept their offer for a free trip at the time, but I love this concept.

I'm a little late to the discussion but have been struggling of late with wonky wifi access in Nepal. I want to echo everyone else who has expressed gratitude for everything you have done to develop and manage Outbounding. It is a shining light in a dark sea of listicles and how-to posts. I wish I could have been more involved, but life has presented me with some complicated issues over the past two years. I finally got back on the road full-time in May, and am still struggling to dig out, but am gradually getting back on board and submitting articles again.
As for suggestions, I agree with others who have asked about a mobile app. I am relying more and more on my mobile and less on my laptop these days, so an app would be wonderful. Also, I recently realized that I hadn't gotten any emails from Outbounding in months, so I checked my settings. I am registered to get the weekly digest and be notified when certain things happen, but never got any emails in this regard, so maybe look at what is happening there. I will have some free time in the upcoming months, if there is anything I can do to help.
Iran was already on my travel wish list, but after watching this film, it's jumped to the top of my list. I read a month or so ago that Iran wants to reinvigorate its tourism sector but could not find any contact information for their official Tourism Bureau. I wonder, Tom, if you have any contacts you can pass along? Congratulations on a very well-done travel documentary.
Hi Tom -I'm a little confused. Went to the Twitter account shown above and it said that account was obsolete. Found you at @tom_r_allen and DM'd you there. Hope that's the right place or someone will think I'm crazy, which is not at all unlikely :-)
Absolutely magnificent writing.
