Writing, Traveling, and the Creative Act

For me, writing and traveling belong together. “While I’m writing, I’m far away; and when I come back, I’ve gone,” said Pablo Neruda, capturing the journey-element of the mysterious process. To write, I need to put myself in a room. Sometimes this room is close to my home; other times it’s in a hotel far, far away.
