Turning the prejudice and prevalence of ornithologists from the Northern Hemisphere on their ear, DNA evidence clearly points to the fact that Australia provided the entire world with a majority of its songbirds.   All the songbirds of Europe, North America, the parrots of Africa and South America, and even the Dodo, all had Australian ancestors.
