One of the world's largest collections of rock engravings and what is regarded to be the first European map can be found carved into the glacial rock in a valley nestled between two mountains in the foothills of the Italian Alps.It's known as Valcamonica—or the valley of the Camuni, a people who inhabited the valley for thousands of years and whose descendants still live there.
