The Mysterious Death of Rio Artist Jorge Selaron

Jorge Selarón’s body was found here, surrounded by pictures of smiling celebrities, cartoon characters and outlines of tango dancers silhouetted in red, a color he thought brought joy to whatever it touched. Burned and covered in paint thinner, Selaron died on the staircase he had spent the past two decades bringing to life.
