The Great Living Chola Temple of Thanjavur, India

The hot stone burned beneath my bare feet as I walked across the grounds of the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, one of the Great Living Chola Temples. It was the morning of New Year’s Eve in 2014 and under the heat of the Indian sun I felt suspended in a timeless place after spending every other year in a cold Europe.
