Religious hostilities impact more people than government restrictions
74% of people – more than 5 billion – live in countries where high levels of religious hostilities limit religious freedom. By contrast, 64% of people live in countries with high government restrictions on religious freedom. The share of countries with a high or very high level of social hostilities involving religion reached a six-year peak in 2012, according to a new study by the Pew Research Center.
