Owner of company that wrote fake TripAdvisor reviews may be first to get jail time
TripAdvisor laid out in great detail last week how the company spent several years investigating the company — PromoSalento — and turned over the evidence to Italian prosecutors. "We see this as a landmark ruling for the Internet,” said Brad Young, vice president and associate general counsel for TripAdvisor, in a statement. “Writing fake reviews has always been fraud, but this is the first time we've seen someone sent to jail as a result."
