In March of 1970, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake shook the Gediz Valley region of western Turkey.Over a thousand people lost their lives in the quake, and many of the villages it damaged were abandoned in favor of starting over elsewhere in the valley, often just a few kilometers away.So it was with a village called Eceköy.
