Keepers of the rainforest: The Mentawai of Siberut Island

LOCATED SOME SIXTY MILES west off the Sumatran coast, lays the island of Siberut, inhabited by the Mentawai tribe, one of the most pure indigenous Indonesian societies. Mentawai are an ancient tribe that for thousands of years has lived deep in the jungles of the equatorial rainforest in a relative isolation from modern society.
