Iconic Buildings: TWA Terminal, New York

There's something rather satisfying about a building that looks like what it does, not so much form following function as form mirroring function. The TWA terminal at New York's JFK airport did it brilliantly. It opened in 1962, at the moment when jets were about to revolutionise international travel, killing off ocean liners and introducing cheap air transport.
