Humans of New York in Tehran
I flew into Tehran before sunrise. As we made our descent, I remember looking out my window at the darkened landscape below. I wanted to see if I could learn a few last things about Iran before I set foot on the ground. Though I’d done a good bit of dispassionate research, my perception of Iran was still largely dominated by the image depicted in American media reports—the country seemed angry, fanatic, and bent on conflict with the West.
