Help stop poaching: go on safari in Africa

Ecotourism helps fight poaching in Africa by providing jobs to locals, incomes to communities, and eyes on the ground. I went to East Africa for 7 weeks earlier this year despite the travel advisories (but heeded certain zone warnings and stayed away from Nairobi central city.)  As a travel writer what do you think about the trade off (airplane emissions) for conservation, and how do you read or heed travel advisories?
