Dark tourism: Why are we drawn to horror?

If you’ve ever deliberately visited a place with a horrible history – from Auschwitz to the scene of the Pendle witch trials – you have been part of what is known as dark tourism. Choosing to travel to sites of death, terror, and human suffering is not uncommon and, sadly, such places exist across the globe.
