The perfect writer's retreat for an ex-pat, with a place to swim, garden, gather friends and family. Graves (author of I Claudius and a biography of friend T.E. Lawrence) began his day visiting a local cafe, reading his air-mailed copy of the London Times, answering letters, but the cafe is no more, the street busy with tourist buses.
