  • Hmmm... well it's a good film and obviously a remarkable achievement but do I detect more than a touch of hyperbole in some of their claims?  This is basically a PR exercise for the potential of renewables (nothing wrong with that!) but there's no mention of if/how/when solar technology could actually be used to power full-on airliners or even light passenger planes. On my fairly limited understanding of these things I'm not sure it's expected that solar energy could *ever* deliver sufficient propulsion to power a proper aircraft.

  • Solar powered airships probably have even more potential. They can lift heavier loads and don't need airstrips.
